Three times a winter, Sayulita hosts a two-day-long "Sayulita Surf Classic." The couple's surfing is especially entertaining and often comical.

Sayulita holds weekly local dances, rodeos and Sunday baseball games.

February 3 to 9- Carnaval, this annual event in Sayulita will have you on the streets.

February 20 to 27- Fiesta del Pueblo, with vendors and carnival rides and games fill the streets. Cars and buses have to find an alternate route. A rodeo and multi-band concert are the highlights.

Semana Santa (Holy week) translates to Spring Break for city dwellers from Guadalajara who flock to Sayulita. There are no cultural traditions happening in the streets like in some Latin American towns. Discos and parties happen every night.

Dia de al Marina is Mexico's equivalent of Memorial Day. In Sayulita, instead of honoring dead soldiers, the people honor fishermen who never returned. Boats are filled with ice and beer, a huge meal is cooked and people celebrate all day. At night, everyone goes out on boats and forms a ring to pray and throw flowers in the sea. When they return, the festivities continue.

December 1 to 12- Pilgrimages for the Virgin of Guadalupe, Sayulita as well as Puerto Vallarta celebrates the twelve days with pilgrimages (peregrinaciones) each day and evening with processions and floats, Aztec dancers, folklore groups and military bands.

December- Surf Classic in Sayulita, this annual event for surfers draws people from all over the world to this major surfing destination in Sayulita.

International Puerto Vallarta Sailfish and Marlin Fishing Tournament
The level of enthusiasm and emotion for this event is very high and inevitably contagious. This is the fishing tournament with greater tradition in Mexico.

Check on Golf Tournaments in the Vallarta area, prior to your trip. There are seven professional golf courses around Banderas Bay, amongst which the following ones stand out: Flamingos Golf which was the first one in the area, then there is Marina Vallarta Golf, which is one of the most recommended ones by the magazine Golf Digest, as well as Vista Vallarta Golf surrounded by exuberant vegetation, it was the seat of the World Golf Championship - EMC world Cup - during 2002.
