September 1st to 11th - Mariachi Festival, the celebration of the Mariachi bands in Mexico.

October 5th to 23rd - Cervantino Festival, Miguel de Cervantes is best known for his creation of Don Quixote, a novel that describes the adventures of a, well quixotic, elderly knight and his pragmatic squire, Sancho Panza. Cervantes is honored in a three-week festival featuring orchestral music, opera, theater, dance, film and folklore. At the opening ceremony, statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are lit up by fireworks.

The major events are held in the Teatro Juarez and the Teatro Principal. Street performances of Cervantes' famous one-act plays, musical performances, exhibits, children's theater and folklorico dances are held all over the central part of the town.

International Puerto Vallarta Sailfish and Marlin Fishing Tournament
The level of enthusiasm and emotion for this event is very high and inevitably contagious. This is the fishing tournament with greater tradition in Mexico.

Check on Golf Tournaments in the Vallarta area, prior to your trip. There are seven professional golf courses around Banderas Bay, amongst which the following ones stand out: Flamingos Golf which was the first one in the area, then there is Marina Vallarta Golf, which is one of the most recommended ones by the magazine Golf Digest, as well as Vista Vallarta Golf surrounded by exuberant vegetation, it was the seat of the World Golf Championship - EMC world Cup - during 2002.
