Whether you spend the day floating in the pool, watching the light on the ocean change from one minute to the next, walk to the lagoon to spy on egrets, hawks and herons, sit in the garden reading a book, or grab a surf board and wait for the right wave, you'll find that the Inn of the Gata Gorda will touch you in the right places.

Just a three-minute walk to gourmet restaurants, taco stands, sidewalk cafes, markets and shops, our two, brand new casitas, which rent nightly, weekly and monthly, are large and airy with expansive windows, ceiling fans and, for the hotter months of May through October, air conditioning. Each casita has a large living/dining area, a fully stocked kitchenette, a Mexican tiled bathroom, ocean and jungle views, a comfortable queen sized bed, and the graceful arches that are intrinsic to traditional Mexican architecture.

The upper unit, Casita Agave, has a large sunset verandah, while the lower, Casita Nopal, has a hummingbird garden off the dining area. Both casitas are suitable for a couple, or a family of three.

Our furnishings--hand-painted furniture, woven textiles, wall hangings, paintings, custom ironwork, Talavera tiles, wall sconces and pottery--have been carefully selected with an eye for the rich creative heritage of Mexican artisans.

A gated compound with beautifully laid out gardens that reflect the colors of each Mexican season, the Inn's centerpiece is its ample pool. With its cool ice blue tiles, soothing waterfall, and an underwater bench for reading and sunning on hot afternoons, the pool offers 360 degree mountain and ocean views. A short walk along San Pancho's main street will take you to the pueblo's sandy beach where Huichol Indians spread their jewelry and pottery on colorful blankets and sunset junkies find just the right spot to observe the richest, most breathtaking part of every San Pancho day.
